Morgan Meunier's creative enterprise occupies premises that resemble a bijou living room. That's not to suggest it's in any way amateurish: quite the contrary. Tables dressed in linen are tended precisely by black-clad waiting staff. The intricate dishes - foams, purées, uncanny textures and unexpected flavour combinations abound - arouse a greedy curiosity to sample as many as possible.

Hardens 2010 says:
Morgan Meunier’s ‘clever, intricate and delicious’ Gallic cuisine- among London’s very best- is ‘an inspiration’ and well justifies a trip to his ‘out of the way’ pub-conversion in an ‘unsalubrious’ bit of Holloway; the interior is rather ‘sober’, but it is ‘warmed up by the personality of the staff’.

Zagat 2010 says: ‘Highly recommended’ for the eponymous chef’s ‘consistently outstanding’ Modern French cuisine that’s ‘also brilliant for vegetarians’ (‘at an exceptional price’), this ‘oasis in a rather dingy part’ of Islington makes a ‘lovely spot for a leisurely foodie experience’; ‘convivial service’ and a ‘charming atmosphere’ add ‘to the pleasure’.

It’s worth the detour from Highbury to seek out the highly superior Modern French cooking from Morgan Meunier.
